This place has been a great spot for special occasions or just dinner for two in the past, but with the wife and kids out of town last weekend I tried it for single-guy breakfast. As per their standard, excellence of execution in both production and service reigned. I am a very opinionated diner, but deferred entree selection to the chef and he nailed it. Omelette with spicy sausage and delicate red sauce draped over, aided by zesty chicken sausage and a corn muffin. Great textures, flavors and temperatures. The muffin steamed upon being cracked open. Did I mention the house-made strawberry butter? The rich, oily black coffee refilled without request? Spot-on. What about this is single-guy worthy you ask? Non- intrusive service, a willingness to allow lingering on the customer's part, hearty food, reasonable pricing and an overall casual-cool vibe. Stem to stern; artful service and food. Good job Le Jardin.

Stopped in for brunch. Had an omelette with from age and creme fraiche, with a side of homemade Greek yogurt and granola. It was soo fresh and I ate every bite. The decor is cool and love the idea of the restaurant in Beaverdale .... the only thing I noticed is the restaurant surfaces are all very "hard"...concrete, metal.. so it could get a little loud. Definitely a must try though.

Popped in in a weeknight with no reservation and got right in. Very simple, concise menu. Nice selection of wine/beer. Food was smaller portions than a typical chain restaurant, but just right and very fresh tasting. Wonderful lemon creme brûlée!

When I sit and eat at this place it saddens me to think about the people who are eating at Perkins. This is everything you could want in a neighborhood restaurant. Why this place is not packed on Saturday and Sunday brunch beats the hell out of me. Oh probably because they don't offer a pig trough style buffet and all you can down weak beverages! What they DO have is a simple and delicious menu. It runs around $14 but you get two sides and a high quality product and execution! This is where you will find other service industry people eating their brunch. If they like it you know it's good. Do your self a favor and for one of your side get the bacon. I'm not sure what they are putting on it but the DEA needs to investigate cause I think it's crack! The wine cocktails are light and refreshing and a great escape from the "who has the best Bloody Mary" competition. Screw it who cares come here and order a Le Jardin Blackberry-Mint Spritzer! I have yet to eat dinner here, but it has the perfect ambiance for a great place for a date, or dinner with friends. Simple clean modern style tables, exposed Edison light bulbs and a beautiful mural. This will impress any date that you know about these awesome places in Des Moines. I do however have two complaints: 1) remove the salt and peppers from the table they are just taking up space everything I've had here is perfectly seasoned. 2) the coffee creamers were difficult to pour out off that is all.

Le Jardin is a jewel of Des Moines, a treasure, one that I hope is around for a long time to come. A neighborhood restaurant filled with great food, and drink. Of course, if your idea of a fancy night out is to go to the Cheesecake Factory, if that's fancy to you, you're probably going to HATE dining here. If you think that $8 for a flatbread is expensive, you're probably going to HATE dining here. If you value how fast and crispy the cook can make your chicken-popper-nachos over the quality of ingredients and technique, you will HATE dining here. Le Jardin is not quaint. It is not a light lunch spot. This is the real deal, but if you're used to sliding into the cool comfort of the booth at the all you can eat pasta buffet, you're going to HATE dining here. If you've ever had the pleasure of dining in France, or at a well run French restaurant you will find that Le Jardin delivers a great value both in terms of price and in terms of the quality of preparation and ingredients. Go here, then figure out when you will be coming back. Can't wait to go back again.

Came here for brunch. The place was very busy. Nice atmosphere if a bit noisy. Started with a mango mimosa - ok - a bit too sweet. We ordered omelettes (one asparagus and one basque) and the creme brûlée brioche French toast. Sides were merguez, capon sausage, salad, yogurt and clafoutis. Would have preferred Greek yogurt as this one was a little too thin and sweet. However everything else worked well. The omelettes in particular, while not the light, French, fluffy style were very tasty. And both sausages were excellent. Service was efficient and friendly. Would go back and try a crepe next time.

I've been here 3 times now, all for brunch. I have never been disappointed if anything I've been surprised by how great everything was all 3 times. Sorry, no pictures, it's been an afterthought each time! I've tried something different each time, and I'd recommend any of it!

Quite possibly the best brunch in the Des Moines area. If you don't try Le Jardin, you are only hurting yourself, and you shouldn't hurt yourself! The Sunday brunch menu had a wide variety of savory and sweet breakfast options, and each featured item could be paired with any two a la carte sides of your choice, so you could build the perfect breakfast for you. The cocktails were also well considered and tasty. The service was friendly and the staff was very considerate of us. They were happy to explain the menu and offer accommodations for our baby. I will definitely be back.

I went here today with my friend for Brunch. It has a clean, minimalistic look on the inside and I really dig the painting on the wall. Now, for what really matters.. The food. It was hard to decide what to get because it all looks good. I ordered a Mango Mimosa, which was tasty but small. Proper portions or smaller turn me off. I ordered the Mushroom and Spinach Crepe which had some goat cheese, roasted veggies and my choice of two sides. I chose the porkbelly Brussle sprouts and the cinnamon muffin. The Brussle sprouts were amazeballs, the muffin- meh, not so much. The muffin tasted dry and kind of stale but mostly just really dry. My friend ordered an omelette, brussle sprouts, and bacon. She would not stop talking about the bacon... I should have tried it because apparently, it was damn good. Overall, it was D-LISH and I will be back.

Wow. So glad we tried Le Jardin a few weeks ago. We arrived shortly after 8:00 pm and had missed the big crowds so were seated immediately. The service was excellent. Our server was efficient and friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. We asked several questions and she was able to answer all of them. We started off with the Charcuterie, mostly because I wanted to try the rabbit liver mousse. It was all very good. For an entrée I had the Duck Duet. I almost always order duck the first time I visit a restaurant that has it on the menu. I am often disappointed by the preparation but when it's done right it's one of my favorite foods. Le Jardin did not disappoint. It was probably the best duck dish I've ever had. The breast was perfectly cooked, moist and tender. The flavors melded perfectly too. I could have licked my plate. We had the Egg Nog Crème Brulee for dessert, which was also delicious. Overall, it was an excellent meal and I would highly recommend Le Jardin.

Perfection in every way. Coffee, amazing. Omelette Fromage, delicious. Not over cooked like every other restaurant in Des Moines. Bacon peppered and crispy without being char. Potato cake cooked perfectly. Crispy layer on top and a smooth center. Finished the meal off with a cocktail. I could throw a dart at the menu and be happy every time. Glad to find a new weekend brunch location.

Superb from start to finish, the food, in every tasty detail. The service & ambience likewise pleased us terrifically, at both brunch & dinner. Special praise for the boudin sausage & the wine pairings! A must in Des Moines & its Beaverdale neighborhood.

French food in Iowa is hard to come by, but with a name like "Le Jardin" I thought I would give this place a chance. The bistro is small, so I recommend making reservations beforehand just to be safe! The interior is minimalistic and modern, so even though it looks clean, I wouldn't describe it as warm and welcoming. Their menu includes flat breads, meat and cheese, and various entrees including omlettes and sandwiches. My mom and I decided to start with charcuterie in hopes to get transported to Parisian cafe. We ordered a liver mousse and a cheese plate, each $6. The portions were minuscule but the flavors were definately there. Each dish was simplistic and reflected the overall feel of the restaurant very well. For dinner, we decided to share two flat breads which were each around $8. One was the flambé with bacon and onions and the other had tomatoes and goat cheese. Again very simplistic, authentic flavors. It rounded off the meal pretty well leaving my mom and I satisfied but not stuffed. Overall, this is a quant destination for lighter luncheon. A bit of a pricey experience, so I can't see myself running back anytime soon. Although I wasn't transported to European cafe, the fresh design and light flavors did offer a pleasant change of pace.

Had brunch this morning. Best bacon we had ever had! The crepe was delicious and so were the sour cream potatoes. Highly recommended. Not crowded at all at 9:30 this morning.

Our dinner New Years Eve at Le Jardin may have been the worst dining experiences in the Des Moines area. First impressions were negative as the hostess was not at all welcoming. We booked well in advance and upon arriving early to a nearly empty room, we were seated in front of the door. We asked for a different location and were told it was prearranged seating and abruptly told no. The wait staff was informative, but rushed us through the courses. The food seemed to be pre-prepared and tasteless, except for the lobster ravioli entree. This was not at all what one might expect from a derivative of La Mie. I don't might paying high prices for good food and service. However, this was not the case. A very disappointing evening.

Stopped in for brunch with my girlfriends. The atmosphere, the food & service was outstanding. The brunch menu has endless combinations you can choose. I had the wild mushroom omelette with a petite salad & fruit. It was all delicious & the perfect combo. I also tasted the sour cream potato cake. So good! And the Le Jardin Blackberry Mint Spritzer was fantastic. Everything was so well done & delicious. We got there early on a Saturday so it wasn't too busy, but it started filling in by the time we left. Highly recommend. If you are visiting Des Moines I would recommend this place over La Mie, it's less crowded & overall more enjoyable. Love it!!
